Trident Ploughshares legal support (England & Wales)

Introduction

This website contains various notes and briefings that may be useful for Trident Ploughshares (TP) activists. Much of the information is a bit technical, and the concentration is on support for those who are arrested and/or charged for relatively minor actions/offences, and who want to represent themselves or at least do some detailed legal work themselves.

The website is permanently under construction & open to suggestions. . . . It should be added to fairly frequently, but ideas on what to include would be very helpful.

While written for TPers, the briefings are not particularly TP-specific. Feel free to use the briefings for any other campaigns or groups: they are copyrighted with a very liberal licence, in order to safeguard everyone’s freedom to use and redistribute them at will.

All the briefings can be supplied by post—a few stamps are appreciated. Contact me by email (as at end of this page), or you should find my address on the Pledgers’ list.

For more information on TP, and for Scottish legal support information, please see the main TP website, at http://www.tridentploughshares.org/.

Briefings available

This is what’s here at the moment:

Procedures: notes on being arrested, various police powers, court hearings etc.

Case law: briefings on several court cases (legal precedents) that may be useful for (or that may be used against) TPers.

Related links: links to web sites on legal/Trident related topics.

Legal ‘wiki’ website: link to the TP legal wiki: a collaborative website for on-line discussion of any legal issues around Trident and TP defences.

This website was built with entirely free software (“free” as in ‘free speech’ not just ‘free beer’). I have compiled some technical notes and details.
