I have only written a few briefings in this category, and I’m not sure how useful they are. I should add more in due course.
Note especially that these procedures are generally very specific to England & Wales—procedures in Scotland may be very different. Also, do check the dates at the end of the briefings, as procedures change with new primary legislation (acts of Parliament) quite frequently.
I will add extra briefings or links in due course.

BAIL
If you do arrestable actions, you may well end up on bail. This briefing attempts to untangle the
different varieties of bail and bail conditions etc, and may also be helpful if you have to negotiate with
police or courts about getting bail or changing bail conditions.
Fingerprints, DNA samples & Photographs
This briefing attempts to untangle the rules about when fingerprints and DNA samples etc can be
taken. It tries to be both clear and comprehensive, but is probably not quite either.
Types of offences
Brief notes on different types of offences, in relation to offences that TPers may be arrested
for.
Police rights to enter a building
A flowchart that attempts to show in what circumstances the police can enter (or possibly force entry
to) a private building without a court order.
Release from police custody
A flowchart that attempts to summarise what can happen to you once you’re out of the police station,
in a simplified format.
McKenzie friends
These notes explain what “McKenzie friends” are and what is their legal basis. They should not
normally be needed, but may be worth taking to court if you are representing yourself and plan to use a
McKenzie friend, in case your right to have one is challenged by the court.
