The Act is now law, viz Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000, s.57, but regulations introducing the tests have come out only in certain police areas, viz Notts, Staffs and the Met (July 2001, SI 2001/2232), Beds, Devon & Cornwall, Lancs, Merseyside, South Yorks and North Wales (May 2002, SI 2002/1149) and Avon & Somerset, Greater Manchester, Thames Valley and West Yorks (Sept 2002, SI 2002/1862).
